My beloved 15-year-old Carmen left this world on the first beautiful weekend in May of 2017. She fought liver cancer like a champ for 14 months, but it eventually spread to her brain and she let me know it was time to let her go. She was a very special dog that changed my life in so many ways. She was my best friend – my soulmate really.
Carmen was a wild puppy and I didn’t know what to do – I became very interested in animal behavior so that I could learn how to help her. Through that journey, I discovered my own calling as a dog trainer and behavior consultant. Thanks to Carmen’s inspiration, I have been able to help over 6,000 dogs. I know that lives were saved through education and helping people better understand their dogs. I know how strong the bond can grow when we learn to speak better dog – Carmen taught me that. She reminded me to be silly, put down the phone, and get outside to enjoy the view. We had so many adventures together and she brought me so much joy. I hope that I gave her a life that she deserved and that she knows how much I love her. I miss her every minute and I wish she were here, but I look forward to having a bit of her fuzzy ears to hold close every day.
